Introduction to Statistical Data on the Number of Agricultural Industrial and Commercial Registered Enterprises
Agriculture constitutes a vital industry in the national economy. In a broad sense, it encompasses five industrial forms: crop cultivation, forestry, animal husbandry, fisheries, and sideline activities. Narrowly defined, agriculture refers specifically to crop cultivation, including the production of food crops, cash crops, forage crops, and green manure crops. The contemporary global agricultural development demonstrates intertwined trends of high commercialization, capitalization, scaling, specialization, regionalization, industrialization, intellectualization, socialization, and internationalization, which have significantly enhanced land productivity, agricultural labor efficiency, commodity rates of agricultural products, and international market competitiveness.
Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949, the rural economy has experienced rapid recovery and development, with substantial improvements in agricultural production conditions and technological advancements leading to remarkable yield growth. Over the past three decades, China has achieved extraordinary success by supporting nearly one-fifth of the world's population with merely 7% of global arable land. According to estimations by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the contribution rate of technological progress to total agricultural output increased from 27% during 1972-1980 to 30%-40% during 1981-1985.
CnOpenData conducts statistical analyses on the quantity of agricultural industrial and commercial registered enterprises. Following the National Economic Industry Classification standards, the data is categorized into five major classes (2-digit codes): Agricultural, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, and Fishery Support Activities; Crop Cultivation; Forestry; Fisheries; Animal Husbandry. The statistics are organized through four analytical dimensions, comprehensively reflecting the incremental growth and developmental trajectory of agricultural enterprises in China since 1950.
