CnOpenData Introduction to China’s Green Patent Statistics by Region
According to the "China Green Patent Statistical Report (2014-2017)" released by the Intellectual Property Office in 2018, my country's green innovation activities are currently active, and the number of green patents has gradually increased. As of the end of 2017, the number of effective green patents in my country In terms of patent applications, from 2014 to 2017, the number of green patent applications in my country reached 249,000, and the average annual growth rate was 3.7 percentage points higher than the overall average annual growth rate of my country's invention patents.
As an important part of ecological civilization, green innovation is a key innovation task in my country. "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets." While pursuing rapid economic development, various regions in our country are also pursuing economic transformation and coordinating economic development and green development. Taken together, green innovation is an important leading force in pursuing high-quality economic development.
CnOpenData has previously launched green patent-related databases, such as green innovation data, listed company/industrial enterprise green patents and citation data, etc., but most of them focus on the micro level and are slightly lacking in macro statistics. This time, CnOpenData extracted green patent information from China's patent statistics by region, forming China's green patent statistics by region to assist related research.
Compared with China's patent data by region, this data is slightly more complex in structure, which is mainly due to the green classification. As the only internationally accepted patent document classification and retrieval tool, the IPC classification number can be used to identify the technical field of the patent. According to the IPC classification number, green patents include a total of 7 main categories: Waste management, nuclear power, transportation, energy conservation, agriculture and forestry, alternative energy production, administrative supervision and design , the first-level classification number is a detailed classification under the main classification, containing a total of 39 categories, which can more clearly define the technical fields of patents, such as the carbon/emission trading category, agriculture and forestry category under the administrative supervision and design category Affiliated pesticide substitutes, etc. It should be noted that this data only includes invention patents and utility model patents, without design parts.
Hence, CnOpenData China’s green patent statistics by region are divided into two stages: invention application and invention authorization, and the statistics are based on the main classification and first-level classification of green patents. The standards are processed separately, and on this basis, province and city tables are distinguished. The structure is detailed and can be freely expanded to meet the needs of multi-dimensional data statistics.
Data characteristics
- Based on the 2020 administrative region codes, regions are divided according to provinces and cities, and month is the smallest statistical unit, covering 34 provincial levels in my country Administrative regions (including 23 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, 4 municipalities, and 2 special administrative regions)We conducted detailed statistics on national green patent applications and green patent authorization data.
- In addition to identifying the detailed address of the first patent applicant, this database also accurately identifies the addresses of other patent applicants and distinguishes them.
- If a patent contains multiple IPC classification numbers, this database will identify all IPC classification numbers, distinguish the green patent classification in which they are located, and count them under the corresponding main classification and primary classification.
- Follow the latest WIPO green patent identification standards and correct the IPC classification number information of all patents with the latest IPC classification number.
