Agricultural wholesale markets play a pivotal role in the circulation and trading of agricultural products. Since the reform and opening-up, China's agricultural wholesale markets have evolved from small-scale spontaneous operations to networked systems, gradually forming an integrated framework. These markets exert an increasingly significant influence on agricultural and rural economies, as well as national economic development.
With the enhancement of China's agricultural production capacity and the improvement of residents' consumption levels, agricultural products remain essential daily necessities. Consequently, the transaction scale of agricultural wholesale markets has shown rapid growth. The wholesale prices formed through open competition in these markets fully reflect the laws of supply and demand and the principles of value, serving critical roles in guiding production, promoting circulation, and directing consumption.
