The Chinese government attaches great importance to treaty conclusion work. In accordance with the Procedural Law of the People's Republic of China on the Conclusion of Treaties, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) administers specific treaty-related tasks with foreign states under the leadership of the State Council. Since 1957 and 1986, the MFA has compiled the Compendium of Treaties of the People's Republic of China and the Compendium of Multilateral Treaties of the People's Republic of China, which include selected bilateral and multilateral treaties concluded or acceded to by China. To implement the principle of diplomacy serving the people, enhance treaty accessibility, and support the Belt and Road Initiative, the MFA has established a treaty database to publish treaties from these compendiums alongside newly concluded or acceded treaties. Some expired treaties are retained for research convenience. Additionally, the database includes selected bilateral cooperation documents for public access.

  CnOpenData has systematically organized treaty data to facilitate academic research. The China Treaty Dataset contains fields such as Treaty Name (条约名称), Category (类别), Domain (领域), Signing Date (签署时间), Effective Date (生效时间), and PDF links, along with full-text PDF documents.
