Overview of Basic Information Data on Industrial and Commercial Registered Enterprises in Electricity, Thermal Power, Gas, and Water Production and Supply Industries
The electricity, thermal power, gas, and water production and supply industries constitute foundational sectors of the national economy, with electricity serving as a prerequisite for national economic development. Ensuring stable power supply is critical for maintaining normal production and daily life, representing a vital task for national economic growth. Currently, China has transitioned from merely meeting basic energy supply needs to pursuing green, clean, and efficient high-quality development. These industries now face new opportunities and challenges. The sector is divided into three major categories: electricity and thermal power production and supply, gas production and supply, and water production and supply.
The electricity and thermal power production and supply industry encompasses three subcategories: electricity production, electricity supply, and thermal power production and supply. Electricity production includes thermal power generation, hydroelectric power generation, nuclear power generation, wind power generation, biomass power generation, as well as geothermal, solar, tidal, and other unspecified power generation activities. Electricity supply refers to the transmission and distribution of electrical energy to end-users through power grids, including the operational activities of power supply bureaus. Thermal power production and supply involve generating steam and hot water using coal, oil, gas, or other energy sources via boilers, or purchasing and distributing steam/hot water, along with maintaining and managing heating facilities.
The gas production and supply industry involves producing gas from coal, oil, or other energy sources, or purchasing liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and natural gas for distribution and sales to users, as well as maintaining and managing gas transmission infrastructure. This excludes specialized retail activities for bottled LPG.
The water production and supply industry comprises three subcategories: tap water production and supply, sewage treatment and recycled utilization, and other water treatment, utilization, and distribution. Tap water production and supply refer to the collection and purification of natural water (groundwater, surface water) to meet drinking or other usage standards, followed by distribution to households, enterprises, and other users. Sewage treatment and recycled utilization involve collecting, treating, and reusing wastewater. Other water treatment activities include desalination of seawater to meet usability standards, as well as the collection, treatment, and utilization of rainwater, brackish water, and similar resources.
