According to Article 11 of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China: When driving a motor vehicle on the road, the vehicle must display license plates, inspection qualification marks, and insurance marks, and carry the vehicle registration certificate. License plates shall be clearly and completely displayed without intentional obstruction or defacement. No organization or individual may confiscate or detain motor vehicle license plates. Vehicle registration serves both to facilitate management by traffic authorities and to enable public supervision.
Beyond provincial vehicle registration statistics, the database also compiles model descriptions including brand and model information for registered vehicles. This facilitates not only regional new vehicle registration analysis but also enhances insights into brand market analysis and consumer purchasing preferences.
The CnOpenData team has collected and organized nationwide city-level vehicle registration data since 2017. The dataset includes comprehensive details such as vehicle model, brand, and place of origin, providing robust support for related research.
