Introduction to subject assessment data

 Discipline evaluation is an overall level assessment of first-level disciplines with the right to confer doctoral and master's degrees by the Degree and Graduate Education Development Center of the Ministry of Education in accordance with the "Catalogue of Degree Awarding and Talent Training Disciplines" promulgated by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education.

  Discipline evaluation always adheres to the principle of "Voluntary application, free participation". All first-level disciplines (including first-level disciplines and second-level discipline authorization) that each unit has the right to confer doctoral or master's degrees can Apply to participate. Subject evaluations are conductedon average every four years.

  • The first round of evaluation was conducted three times from 2002 to 2004 (each time evaluating some disciplines). A total of 1,366 disciplines from 229 units participated in the evaluation.
  • The second round of evaluation was conducted in two times from 2006 to 2008, with a total of 2,369 disciplines from 331 units participating.
  • The third round of evaluation was conducted in 95 first-level disciplines (excluding military science) in 2012, with a total of 4,235 disciplines from 391 units participating (a 79% increase from the second round) ).
  • The fourth round of evaluation was carried out in 2016 within the scope of 95 first-level disciplines (excluding 16 disciplines such as military science). A total of 7449 disciplines from 513 units participated in the evaluation (more than the first-level disciplines) (increased 76% in three rounds), and 94% of the disciplines with doctorate-granting rights in universities across the country applied to participate.

  The purpose of publishing the evaluation results is to provide objective information for participating units to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the discipline, promote the construction of discipline connotation, and improve the quality of graduate training; provide a reference for students to choose disciplines and majors; and also facilitate all sectors of society to understand our country The status and effectiveness of discipline connotation construction in universities and scientific research units.

 CnOpenData data team launched China's subject assessment data, which is the most accurate and complete subject big data in my country. It is divided into two sub-tables: University subject assessment results and scientific research unit subject assessment results. At the same time, in order to strengthen the classification evaluation of different disciplines and reflect the characteristics of their categories, the indicator system is specifically divided into "humanities and social sciences", "science", "engineering", "agriculture", "medicine" and "management" ", "Art" and other seven categories, truly realizing the mining of datain multiple types and in depth!
