When patent applicants submit applications to the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), they are required to provide address information. The authorities then verify the accuracy of the submitted details before proceeding to subsequent stages. Moreover, accurate address information is essential for authorities to precisely locate relevant enterprises and responsible parties when addressing patent-related matters.
Beyond facilitating contact with patent applicants, address data in patent records enables the analysis of regional invention and innovation activity levels. However, the lack of standardized reporting norms for patent address information often impedes such statistical efforts.
To support academic research, CnOpenData has parsed and standardized Chinese patent applicant addresses uniformly detailed down to the street level, supplemented with latitude and longitude coordinates. This provides comprehensive data support for related studies.
