According to the "China Green Patent Statistical Report (2014-2017)" released by the Intellectual Property Office in 2018, my country's current green innovation activities are active, and the number of green patents has gradually increased. By the end of 2017, my country's effective green patents reached 136,000. In terms of patent applications, from 2014 to 2017, my country's green patent applications reached 249,000, with an average annual growth rate 3.7 percentage points higher than the overall average annual growth rate of my country's invention patents.
As an important part of ecological civilization, green innovation is the focus of my country's innovation. "Green water and green mountains are gold and silver mountains." While pursuing rapid economic development, various regions in my country are also pursuing economic transformation and coordinating economic development and green development. Overall, green innovation is an important leading force in the pursuit of high-quality economic development.
CnOpenData has previously launched green patent-related databases, such as green innovation data, green patents of listed companies/industrial enterprises, and cited data, but most of them focus on the micro level and are slightly lacking in macro statistics. This time, CnOpenData extracted green patent information from the regional statistics of Chinese patents to form regional statistics of Chinese green patents to help related research.
Compared with the regional data of Chinese patents, this data is slightly more complex in structure, which is mainly due to green classification. IPC classification number is the only internationally accepted patent document classification and retrieval tool that can be used to identify the technical field of patents. According to the IPC classification number, green patents include 7 main categories: waste management, nuclear power, transportation, energy conservation, agriculture and forestry, alternative energy production, administrative supervision and design. The first-level classification number is a detailed classification under the main classification, which contains 39 categories in total, and can provide a clearer definition of the technical field of patents, such as carbon/emission trading under administrative supervision and design, and pesticide substitutes under agriculture and forestry. It should be noted that this data only includes invention patents and utility model patents, without the design part.
Therefore, CnOpenData China Green Patent Regional Statistical Data is divided into two stages: invention application and invention authorization, and the main classification and first-level classification of green patents are used as statistical standards for processing respectively. On this basis, province and city tables are distinguished, with detailed structure and flexible expansion and contraction, meeting the needs of multi-dimensional data statistics.
Data Features
- Based on the administrative region codes of 2020, the region is divided according to provinces and cities, and months are used as the smallest statistical unit, covering 34 provincial-level administrative regions in my country (including 23 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, 4 municipalities directly under the central government, and 2 special administrative regions), and the national green patent application and green patent authorization data are carefully counted.
- In addition to identifying the detailed address of the first applicant of the patent, this database also accurately identifies the addresses of other patent applicants and distinguishes them.
- If a patent contains multiple IPC classification numbers, this database identifies all IPC classification numbers, distinguishes the green patent classifications to which they belong, and counts them under the corresponding main classifications and primary classifications.
- Follow the latest WIPO green patent recognition standards, and revise the IPC classification number information of all patents with the latest IPC classification numbers.
