Innovation serves as a driving force for economic growth and social progress, constituting a strategic pursuit for every nation and corporation worldwide and a focal topic in academic research. Patents not only protect innovative achievements but also serve as indicators for measuring the innovation capabilities of countries and enterprises.
However, we observe that many existing studies focus exclusively on listed companies, which inherently suffer from "survivorship bias." This necessitates employing larger samples to investigate innovative enterprises in China, yet patent data itself does not disclose the basic information of patentees. Seizing this opportunity, we present a comprehensive dataset on the basic information of patentees.
CnOpenData matches the list of enterprises applying for patents with the National Intellectual Property Administration against China's complete patent application and grant data, as well as basic business registration information, resulting in two datasets: the Patent Application Number Table of Chinese Patentees/Applicants and the Extended Basic Information Dataset of Chinese Patentees. This data provides comprehensive and detailed fields regarding Chinese patentees' basic information, such as Unified Social Credit Code, registration date, enterprise nature (企业性质), location (province/city/county), industry details, etc., thereby facilitating related research.
