Introduction to China’s historical weather data

  So far, human economic activities are mainly carried out under natural conditions, especially agriculture, which sustains human life. It is greatly restricted by climatic conditions, and the development of regional economies and industries, such as food, electrical appliances, and clothing. , medicine, transportation and other fields are also closely related to meteorological information. People can use meteorological information as one of the basis for decision-making in economic activities, arrange production and business activities, seek advantages and avoid disadvantages, reduce economic losses, and improve economic benefits.

  As early as 1750, some international scholars proposed the idea that areas with higher temperatures would be poorer. Since then, this issue has received widespread international attention. As an ancient and new research field, meteorological economics has extensive social benefits and significant economic benefits. Friedheim Schwarz pointed out in his book "Climate Economics" that weather plays a decisive role in four-fifths of the world's economic activities.

  Our country’s research on economic development still lacks analysis of meteorological factors. Taking this as an opportunity, the CnOpenData platform launched historical weather data, covering all cities (including counties) in China since 2011 Historical weather data, indicators include temperature, weather, wind direction and wind strength, air quality, etc.
