According to the definition of ISO-8373-2012, an industrial robot refers to an automatically controlled, reprogrammable multipurpose manipulator that can be programmed in three or more axes, capable of performing industrial process steps required by humans on fixed or mobile platforms, including but not limited to manufacturing, inspection, packaging, and assembly. The global industrial robot database published by the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) provides comprehensive statistics on ISO-standard-compliant industrial robots across over 100 countries and regions. Recognized as the most authoritative database for robotics research, it has been widely adopted in related studies. The IFR industrial robot data primarily follows the International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC), where industries with minimal robot applications are aggregated, while major consumer sectors (particularly the automotive industry) are further subdivided.

CnOpenData has established a dedicated data portal and indexing system for this dataset to facilitate academic exploration.
