Innovation serves as the driver of economic growth and social progress, constituting a strategic direction pursued by nations and corporations worldwide, as well as a focal topic in academic research. Patents not only function as instruments for protecting innovative achievements but also provide a measurable basis for assessing the innovation capabilities of countries and enterprises.
However, we observe that existing studies predominantly focus on listed companies, which inherently suffer from "survivorship bias." This necessitates research on China's innovative enterprises using larger samples, though patent data itself does not disclose basic information about patentees. Seizing this opportunity, we present comprehensive basic information data covering all patentees.
CnOpenData has matched the list of enterprises applying for patents with the National Intellectual Property Administration to China's complete patent application/authorization data and enterprise registration information, resulting in two datasets: the Patent Application Number Table of Chinese Patentees/Applicants and the Extended Basic Information Data of Chinese Patentees. This data provides complete and detailed basic information fields of Chinese patentees, including unified social credit codes, registration dates, enterprise types, provincial/municipal/county locations, and industry classifications, thereby facilitating related research.
