Since human society entered the information age, the rapid development and widespread application of digital technologies have given rise to the digital economy. Distinct from the agricultural economy of the farming era and the industrial economy of the industrial age, the digital economy represents a new economic form, driving force, and business model, triggering profound transformative changes across society and economy. At this stage, digital technologies, products, and services are not only accelerating their penetration into traditional industries through multiple directions, levels, and chains—termed Industrial Digitalization—but are also promoting the continuous development and expansion of digital industrial chains and clusters, known as Digital Industrialization.
Currently, the digital economy has become a new engine driving China's high-quality economic growth. Various new business models emerging from the digital economy will also serve as crucial new growth points for China's economy. To better support the innovative development of the digital economy, China released the Reference Relationship Table between Core Industries of Digital Economy and International Patent Classification (2023) in March 2023. This document aligns the International Patent Classification with the classification of core digital economy industries, maximizing coverage of patents related to core digital economy sectors while providing a clearer and more accurate foundation for constructing relevant patent databases.
CnOpenData utilizes the aforementioned standards as foundational guidelines for database construction, matching them with the list of A-share listed companies and their subsidiaries, to provide statistical data on the quantity of digital economy patents held by A-share listed companies. Structurally, this dataset is divided by patent type into patent applications and patent grants, presenting comprehensive statistical information for each category, thereby offering high-quality and cutting-edge specialized data support for academic research. Notably, the dataset categorizes digital economy patents down to the most granular sub-classifications.
