According to Article 11 of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China: Motor vehicles driven on roads shall display license plates, inspection合格标志 (inspection合格标志), insurance marks, and carry vehicle registration certificates. License plates must be clearly and completely displayed without intentional obstruction or damage. No entity or individual may confiscate or detain license plates. Vehicle registration serves both to facilitate traffic management by public security authorities and to enable public oversight.
