According to the provisions of the Regulations on Pesticide Administration and the Implementing Measures for the Regulations on Pesticide Administration, China implements a pesticide registration system for this special commodity. The Pesticide Registration Certificate is one of the three essential certificates required for pesticides to enter the market for sale. Applicants must provide relevant materials in accordance with the Data Requirements for Pesticide Registration, conduct tests on toxicity, residues, environmental impact, efficacy, etc., and submit these materials to the Ministry of Agriculture for review. Only upon meeting the requirements can the Pesticide Registration Certificate be obtained.
In 2019, with the implementation of the newly revised Regulations on Pesticide Administration, pesticide risk management was further strengthened, the concept of green development deepened, and the number of low-risk pesticides and bio-sourced pesticide varieties steadily increased. Pesticide registration serves as a critical gateway for pesticide products to enter the market. Consequently, changes in the structure of registered pesticide products reflect, to some extent, the trends and current status of the pesticide industry.
