Journal publication constitutes a crucial academic behavior that not only demonstrates researchers' scholarly achievements, but also contributes to academic progress and societal development. The significance of journal articles lies not merely in showcasing individual research outcomes, but more importantly in advancing academic frontiers, generating new knowledge, and promoting technological innovations for societal benefit.
A prevalent phenomenon exists in journal paper distribution: within specific disciplines or professional fields, a minority of journals contain substantial relevant information while the majority exhibit limited informational value. This reflects the concentration of global scientific literature within a small number of periodicals, known as the "core journal effect", which consequently establishes "core journals" for various disciplines. The quantity of core journals remains relatively small compared to China's total journal count. Including discontinued publications, there exist over 10,000 journal archives across various fields, collectively publishing more than 13 million articles by the end of 2023.
To facilitate related research, CnOpenData has systematically organized digitized Chinese journal information and corresponding article metadata, encompassing critical fields such as Journal Name (期刊名称), Publication Volume (出版文献量), Founding Year (创刊时间), Journal Honors (期刊荣誉), Article Titles (文章标题), and Authors (作者).
